“I think it's the people that I work with. It's a good team, committed to trying to get things done – all with different responsibilities, but all working in a close-knit group.”

Kevin Kane, Account Executive, Commercial Mortgage

Kevin Kane has been with Apex Commercial Capital for a little over three years, but he’s been working in the financial services industry for over 30 years. Prior to coming to Apex Commercial Capital, Kevin started in banking, then worked at Velocity Mortgage Capital. According to Kevin, “I think the benefit here at Apex, really comparing them to Velocity from a competitor standpoint, is having decisions made in your building. And we portfolio our loans – we're holding them versus selling them. So, [here at Apex] there's more of a more of a sense of ownership of what you're doing.”

Favorite thing about working at Apex Commercial Capital: “[As an Account Executive,] it's essentially developing existing relationships, growing the loan portfolio, and then trying to attract new broker relationships, to expand the marketplace,” Kevin said. “Richard [Green] talks about the Firstrust enterprise and a family atmosphere. I guess that's what I would say is my favorite thing, you know, the people side of it. It's a close-knit group. It does kind of have that homey family feel. For a company that… not just Apex, but if you think about the whole Firstrust enterprise, there's a lot of employees, but it does have a nice family feel.”

Favorite thing to do outside of work: “I've recently gotten more into golfing. I enjoyed it, but I had four kids. I had four young kids, and then even when they got to high school and college, they had sports and all that, so I just didn't have much time for it. So, now I do enjoy golfing. And I like to cook and travel.”
